Call it the Inauguration Day pregame show. At 4 p.m. today, inauguration events officially kick off with a “Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration” at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The event will feature remarks from President-elect Trump and performances by Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood and others. There also will be military bands and a concluding fireworks show.
You may have to start fighting for some additional armrest room on your flights this weekend. In anticipation of President-elect Trump’s inauguration, airport officials in Washington D.C. are warning of congestion and large crowds starting today. Longer lines at ticket counters and security checkpoints, as well as nearby traffic-jammed roads, could all make traveling a bit more of a challenge. At least 30 people are missing after an avalanche caused by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake buried a luxury hotel in the mountains of Italy. They are trying to get rescue vehicles to the Hotel Rigopiano over roads covered in snow, joining the alpine rescue teams that are already there.
No one was getting across Snoqualmie Pass last night as ice-crusted trees continue to collapse onto the interstate. I-90 remains closed from North Bend to Ellensburg until at least through this morning. KOMO
