We are thankful for the men and women who have sacrificed so much and fought for our freedom. Will you join SPIRIT and recognize some of our local Military Heroes? Today we are recognizing Lori Katz. One of her patients, Brenda recently wrote in with this story about Lori:
Lori Katz, PhD, is a clinical psychologist at Veterans Administration (VA) American Lake, WA. She tirelessly serves women and men struggling with living after experiencing military sexual trauma (MST) and post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD). Her upbeat personality and selflessness inspire all her patients and coworkers. I went through the ‘Warrior Renew’ program Dr. Katz developed for women (and men) who have come through MST with deep-seated emotional/mental and often physical scars. After going through the 12-week program I came out believing that I am no longer a ‘victim’ but a ‘survivor’ and that MST no longer defines me or the way I live my daily life. It is a powerful program. I think that there is not enough attention being given to the numbers of military service members who have suffered this kind of life-altering trauma, particularly at the hands of persons in military leadership positions. Dr. Katz’s determined work in this area continues to benefit and uplift the lives of thousands of quiet sufferers.
She deserves so much praise for all that she does day in and day out for military service members and veterans. She may not be a member of the Armed Forces but she deserves recognition as an ‘honorary’ service member for her concern, compassion, and continuing efforts to bring this issue to the forefront, to address its causes, and to seek and find ways to prevent and solve the long-lasting damages caused by military sexual trauma. I pray that God will bless her with many awards on behalf of all the women and men who have been made whole thanks to Dr. Lori Katz!
SPIRIT 105.3 would like to thank GEICO for helping us recognize Military Heroes.
