Be still! I remember being reminded of that when I was a kid. I find myself sternly whispering that to my boys today. Hush! Be quiet! Why is it I think making them be quiet is going to make my life easier and more relaxed?
Be still! Those two words can be just as much a challenge for us adults. “Be still”, means letting go, to drop, to relax. But how do we do that? Our lives are filled with urgent details and fearful, anxious thoughts that are so difficult to let go of. But if we are able to let them go, then we can let God’s loving and kind spirit fill our hearts and minds, and that can be freeing. But how do we do that?
By being still.
When was the last time you relaxed in the presence of God? When was the last time you were quiet enough to hear His whisper? What if you found an hour to release all those pressing issues to God?
Ok, 30 minutes.
OK, 5 minutes.
I hear what you’re thinking, “I don’t even know how to be still for 5 minutes”.
Maybe start by listening to one song on Spirit 105.3. While listening, relax. Let the immediate and urgent drop. Be still….and focus on the greatness of God.
“Be still. And know that I am God” Psalm 46:10
