President Obama will award the nation’s highest honor for law enforcement to 13 police officers today, recognizing officers who put themselves in harm’s way — one fatally — to protect citizens. In a ceremony in the East Wing of the White House, Obama will present the Medal of Valor to officers such as Mario Gutierrez of Miami, for subduing a knife-wielding assailant who attempted to set off a massive gas explosion, and Robert Wilson III of Philadelphia, for drawing fire during an armed robbery, and suffering a fatal wound as he kept store employees and customers safe.
A woman in Florida was rushed to the hospital after being bitten by a shark—with the whole shark still clutching to her arm. This was a nurse shark and is known to grow up to ten feet. This one was two feet. Nurse sharks are normally peaceful creatures. . .however, it was reported that swimmers were bothering the shark by holding it’s tail. She’s going to be okay.
Search continues for Arlington woman, Samantha Broberg, 33 who fell off cruise ship. The Coast Guard continued searching Saturday for an Arlington woman who fell overboard Friday from the Carnival Liberty cruise ship. She was reported missing from the Carnival Liberty cruise ship about 200 miles off the coast of Galveston on Friday.
