Dear Lord,
Today, we come before you and pray for our country. We pray over our leadership. As this is an election year, father, we pray that you would bring us a leader that would know your heart. We pray that we have a leader that looks to you for guidance.
Lord, thank you for the blessings we have, help us to share those blessings with others. And, help us to fight the tide of entitlement that is so easy to drown in.
Jesus, we ask for your grace and guidance. We don’t all feel the same way about issues. Please help us to come together, discussing in reflective and constructive ways. Help us to avoid lashing out in hate and anger but rather coming together in peace and graciousness.
We’re going to get it wrong sometimes, probably lots of times. We are going to step on each other’s toes, probably a lot. It might get a bit messy, but, Lord, help us to not give up fighting for you. Sometimes it feels as if we are trying to push you further and further away when we really just need to draw you close. Lord, help us even when we think we don’t need it, especially when we feel like we don’t want it.
Thank you for this country. Thank you for our current president, past presidents and future presidents. We know that at the end of the day, no matter where we lean as far as politics, political parties, or opinions, you are still in charge. We are so grateful.
Grant us your blessings.
In your almighty name,
Amen.
