It happens every year, doesn’t it? As much as I don’t want it to, the New Year always makes me want to set goals. Things like: Organize the house. Exercise more. Lose weight. Read the Bible. Pray. Spend more meaningful time with my kids. Save money. All good, in theory. Anyone else get so sick of hearing and seeing everywhere because you just know…inevitably….you are going to fail. Statistically most people have given up by March. I’m ahead of that curve….I usually give up by February!
I started thinking about this the other day and had a lightbulb moment. There isn’t anything wrong with goal-setting and resolutions, but I think I’m going about it all wrong. I’ve failed to ask the most important One what He wants me to do. I’ve heard it’s much better to join Him in what He’s doing instead of the other way around. I’m a little embarrassed to admit I’ve missed the boat on this one.
So, this year, here it is…God, what do you want for me in 2016? I’ll start there. And, I have a feeling I’m going to have a much higher rate of success. And, if I lose a few pounds along the way, well, that’s fine too.
