MyRA, a free, low-risk financial account designed to jump-start retirement savings for lower- and middle-income Americans, launches nationwide today. The program is aimed at workers without access to 401(k)s at work. It’s similar to a Roth IRA but is invested only in a U.S. Treasury security created for the program, and it’s guaranteed to never fall in value. There is a cap of 15K.
One of the hottest new cruise ships of 2015 today begins sailing year-round out of the New York area, expected to be its permanent home. Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas will sail five- to 12-night voyages to Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and New England over the next year. Anthem is jam-packed with cool features, including robot waiters and waitresses, a skydiving simulator and a deck-top fun zone with bumper cars and roller skating.
The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission said yesterday that its investigation into the crash involving Ride the Ducks Seattle is expected to take another month to complete. That means Ride the Ducks Seattle won’t resume tours until sometime after the first of the year, but only if the state reinstates the company’s operating license.
