Colorado’s Gov. will visit the area near the contaminated Animas River near Silverton, Colo., today, one day after declaring a state of emergency. Howls of outrage are still echoing through the mining town six days after an EPA contractor spilled about 3 million gallons of toxic wastewater into the Animas River, temporarily turning the waterway orange and acidic. Federal folks are testing the water, and local governments closed off river access through the tourist town of Durango, about 50 miles south.
Quite possibly the best meteor shower of the year —shoots through a sky starting Today—this morning. There could be as many as 80 meteors per hour at the peak of the shower — most visible in the morning just before daylight.
