Ahhh… What a nice reprieve the cooler weather is this week. I’m so happy to not be sizzling in Seattle anymore! Our heat wave with scorching 93 degree temperatures was so uncomfortable for those of us who don’t like blazingly hot weather and don’t have air-conditioning to cool us down. At least we can be thankful that it didn’t get as hot as the record breaking 103 degrees of 2009! Wow, that’s way too hot for summer in Seattle!
All my fans were on high at home, I put cold packs on my neck, splurged on ice cream, ate cold watermelon and drank lots of iced drinks (the ice melted so fast!). To further escape the heat, I drove around in my car with the air-conditioning on full blast, went to movies and spent time in the library to relax in the refreshing air-conditioned comfort. I’d love to hear how you keep cool during swelteringly hot weather or share with us some fun things you’re doing this summer.
In times like our unusual heat waves it’s good to remember “this too shall pass”. And sure enough, thankfully, this week has cooled down to much more comfortable temperatures.
It’s a simple reminder that no matter what we’re going through, whether it’s hot scorching weather or a life experience that seems to weigh heavy on our heart, that “this too shall pass”, and God will pull us through and cool down the heat in our lives.
Happy summer!
Martha
