In honor of the nearly 50,000 school support staff throughout Washington State, Governor Jay Inslee has declared March 9th – 13th as Classified School Employee Week. SPIRIT 105.3 is recognizing individuals who have distinguished themselves with their professionalism and faithful service to others in public schools. Join us to recognize some of the local men & women serving in our children’s schools? Today we are recognizing Toni from Stevens Middle School in Pasco. Read more about Toni below:
Toni has to deal with so much on a daily basis. She works as head secretary at the main office of Stevens Middle School. Not only does she have to be a secretary to the principal at a tough school, she has to deal with every single other classified employee in the school and goes above and beyond her job description to make sure everyone has a job and is being treated fairly. She never has once said ‘Sorry, that’s not in my job description’ on the other hand, she encourages others to do things for the kids. That’s why we are all here anyway right?
Last week during School Employee Classified Week Toni made sure that every single classified staff received a thank you in person. Every day of the week we received a gift that she either bought or arranged. She will drop anything she is doing to help others, whether it being the principal, a student, another staff member or a parent, she will do it. We live in a pretty diverse and tough neighborhood, not many people around here are like her and are willing to stick around for years and years, principal after principal. People get here, people leave, but she seems to really like having to work and make a difference in everyone’s life. Even to this day she is teaching me new things and I don’t know what a lot of us would do without her. She has been at this school longer than most people and never once has she received the recognition she deserves. She is a true unsung hero.
SPIRIT 105.3 would like to thank Public School Employees of Washington for helping us recognize Unsung Public School Heroes.
