He was the youngest of 8 boys. He was small and given the worst chores. Most of the time, to his family, he was an after-thought. In fact, when an opportunity came, he was the last to be considered, and even then, it was only after being practically forgotten.
The opportunity was presented by a man named Samuel, who was to anoint the next King of Israel. His brothers were all huge and strong. But God wanted the smallest among them, He wanted David. God told Samuel that “man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.” God saw in David something that no one else did, something not even David saw – He saw David’s true value and who he would become.
You might go through the day, feeling small and unnoticed and unimportant. But God sees you. He sees your heart and what your future looks like. He sees a jewel in the rough. And He chooses you. Your circumstances or where you are in life do not determine your value. Your value lies in what God sees in you and what God sees is a king or a queen.
