We are thankful for the men and women who have sacrificed so much and fought for our freedom. Will you join SPIRIT and recognize some of our local Military Heroes? Today we are recognizing Kirk Shriver.
“My hero is my husband Kirk Shriver. He’s been in the Army 17 years and we’ve been married 10 years. In that 10 years, he’s been deployed 4 times for a total of 40 months with the 82nd Airborne. My husband has given his all in support of his country and fellow men & women in uniform. He has never given up or taken the easy road on any duty called of him. With that, came sacrifice. He may have missed the birth of his first born son but it never hurt the bond they have built today. A back injury incurred while deployed, doctors were amazed he was even walking. It was a miracle from God that he wasn’t paralyzed by this injury and yet it never stopped him from performing his duty as a soldier in the Army. He showed up every day and gave it his all. He could have quite easily gotten out of the Army with a medical discharge and moved on but he chose to fight thru his injury each and every day to finish the commitment he pledged to this great nation. My husband has a true heart for his soldiers and will go above and beyond for every one of them when in need. He works long 14 hours days each week and plenty of weekend time too, yet he never complains. It’s a since of honor and duty to him. All that hard work and dedication speaks for itself in his third term as a 1SG. So why do I wish to nominate my military hero you ask, because I’d like to say thank you to a man who humbles himself daily and who would never personally seek recognition for anything. Kirk Shriver is a true soldier at heart…a man of honor who I am proud to call my husband and father of our kids.”
Nominated by wife, Jennifer.
